Advantages of 2nd Hard Drive?

I have been thinking about getting a 2nd serial ATA hard drive for my Dual 2.3 GHz PowerPC G5. I mostly do some Graphic Design and Web Master work, but not much these days. I've been thinking about getting one that is 500GB. If I do decide to get one how does a creative professional use a 2nd internal HD?
